Tilbury Cove Review at Jervis Bay, Australia

Tilbury Cove, Culburra Beach

Beach rating: 3.5/5

Type: Curvy bay

Waves: Small, choppy

Feel: Quiet, related, family

Good for: Jogging, picnicking, swimming, fishing, kicking the beach footy, rock pools

Facilities: Car park with amenities.

Patrolled: Yes

Tilbury Cove has a relaxed family feel about it with the rock pools to entertain the kids for hours. There are people jogging along the beach, enjoying the rock pools, kicking the footy around, and fishing. The grassy area to the right (Tilbury Cove Reserve) of the beach offers protection from the wind and is a perfect picnic spot. It is not the best beach for body surfing or boogie boarding as there are no many waves. If you want to do this, drive up to Cave beach – you won’t be disappointed! You can go from a swim at Tilbury Cove but watch out for seaweed.

The best thing about this beach for me was watching a pod of dolphins quite close to shore who were totally unconcerned about other swimmers in the water.
